MALLEE ROOT – prostitute (AUST)
MANHOLE COVER – Brother
MANOR – area, turf, patch. (LS&2SB)
MANY DIFFERENT MEN TO SEE ABOUT MANY DIFFERENT DOGS – comes from the euphemism “see a man about a dog”, meaning to do something unspecified (normally secret). (S)
MARBLES (from marbles and conkers) – bonkers, mad. Can also mean crabs or pubic lice (from crabs – MARBLE SLABS)

MERCHANT BANKER – wanker

MICKEY MOUSE – fake. (S) Also means “(to) grouse” in Australian Rhyming Slang

MINERALS – Derived from the Rhyming Slang term ‘Family Jewels’ (pron. “jawls”) = ‘balls’, testicles. See ALAN’S (S)
MINCE PIES – Eyes

MRS. CHANT – Aunt
MIX AND MUDDLE – Cuddle
MOBY DICK – sick
MOLLO/MOLLY THE MONK – drunk. See ADRIANS (AUST)
MONKEY – £500 note. Possibly originates from the 500 rupee note that once had a monkey on it. (LS&2SB)
MOODY – stolen (S)
MORETON BAY FIG – wig (Moreton Bay is the large bay near Brisbane. It was originally Morton’s Bay, named by Captain Cook in 1770 after James Douglas, Earl of Morton, the Past-President of the Royal Society, but the spelling changed by about the 1880’s) (AUST)
MOTHER HUBBARD – Cupboard (from children’s nursery rhyme)
MOTHER’S RUIN – gin
MUG – a fool or victim. Originates from the fact that drinking mugs used to be made with ugly faces on them. Also for this reason ‘mug’ can mean ‘face’, i.e.. ‘ugly mug’. (SD) As in The Streets’ track “Don’t Mug Yourself”
MUPPET – an idiot. (LS&2SB)

NONCE – a sex offender, but can be used as a general term of abuse. (LS&2SB)
NORTH – Rhyming Slang (derived from “north and south”) for ‘mouth’. (LS&2SB)
NOW IS THE HOUR – shower (AUST)
NUCLEAR SUB – Modern Rhyming Slang for pub or bar. (LS&2SB)
NUTMEG – leg (evolved to the soccer term ‘nutmeg’, that is, to play the ball between your opponent’s legs.)
